April 2, 2017: With a can of mandarin oranges, a bag of almond dark chocolate, and half-full water bottles, my friends and I went to Rope Mill Park in search of the waterfall we had heard so much about. At our first fork in the road (we were traveling with no map or idea where we were going), we picked the forest path that looked like it went uphill. Thirty minutes later, after a few more forks in the road, we came out onto a dirt pathway: 50 feet from our starting point. We walked in a huge circle, what an adventure! We talked to a few people who pointed us in the direction of the waterfall and saw these amazing sand dunes on the way. The sand dunes were truly my favorite part of the trip though; the waterfall was muddy and had way too many bugs for my liking. The dunes were quiet and relaxing, it felt like a new world from the typical greenery-laden Georgia.
